Ability SDA

What We Did

A traditional media relations campaign centred around a brand new Ability SDA apartment project opening in Gosford on the New South Wales central coast. These sleek, high tech apartments were custom built for people with High Support Needs disabilities, featuring completely accessible bedrooms and balconies, bright, open-plan living rooms, customised kitchens and bathrooms and state-of-the-art home automation, including voice controlled doors, lights, blinds and more. The apartments also provided overnight onsite support, allowing residents to maximise their independence, lifestyle and privacy while having the peace of mind of knowing that a support person is close by 24 hours per day.

With 20 new residents moving into their new Ability SDA apartments, we reached out to both local and national media to educate the public and disability community about Specialist Disability Accommodation, which is funded by the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Using the incredible stories of Ability SDA's new residents, we showcased how life changing Specialist Ability Accommodation is in allowing people with extreme functional impairment or very high needs to live as independently as possible.

“Surprisingly, one of the biggest issues we face is that as this is a relatively new type of accommodation funded by the NDIS, there's a real lack of information in the disability community. It seems too good to be true, but we wanted to let people know that it isn't! Dani and her team helped us to do this by generating excellent and targeted media coverage for Ability SDA."
